"I met Fred on our Loading dock at The House of Lighting, in Evansville, IN back in the 60's. I remember shaking his thumb, Fred was a BIG MAN in both Body and Personal Stature. He sucked the air out of a room when he walked in. I see he liked to read about John Wayne. Well, Fred was the John Wayne of the Lighting Business. I was fortunate to work with him. The day I met him, I was stockboy, he bought my Lunch and told me I might never get out of the business if I was not careful (HA). That was 53 years ago and I am still in the Business, having worked with Fred for 3 years at Sea Gull and 2 other Companies since then. Fred inspired thousands of young men and women with his drive, knowledge and friendship. I was lucky to be one of those people.

"Fred was such an inspiration to so many individuals and he had such a positive impact upon the lives and careers of many people. I count myself among those individuals. My personal life and my career have been enriched by knowing Fred. My first memory of Fred is meeting him on the steps of our hotel in Dubrovnik, Croatia on my first company sponsored trip. I remember his large, welcoming, outstretched hand and his huge smile! Such a wonderful memory that I shall cherish forever! Twila, thank you for your love for Fred for the past 20 years! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I will miss Fred and I thank him for his leadership and guidance in life, career, family and faith."

"We will miss Fred, our sister-in-law Janet's dad, at our Thanksgivings with the Schafers! He was every ounce a gentleman and a grounded-in-faith man of God! Sympathies to Twila and children and spouses and Fred's grandchildren and great-grandchildren."
